StrainInSight® Genome Database

Our Genome Database contains metadata and annotated whole-genome sequences from a subset of bacteria in our private strain collection. It offers a powerful way to gain insight into the genomes of our strains and facilitates strain selection for specific applications.

Metadata searches

Use strain metadata to finetune your search options. Look for a specific genus by filtering on identification, or select strains based on isolation source. Our database includes culture conditions for each strain, including cultivation medium, atmosphere, temperature and pH. Food safety status is indicated with each strain.

Genome searches

Search the database for specific genes by gene name, gene description and EC number or look for metabolites of interest via metabolite name or identifier. Our sequence-based searches maximise your ability to discover novel genes, featuring both protein and nucleotide BLAST.

Features

Our Genome Database features an intuitive interface, custom filtering options and a personalized query history. Explore individual genes and their surroundings using the genome browser and get an overview of the metabolic capacity of each strain with our custom pathway visualisations.

One database, endless possibilities

Our Genome Database was intitally designed with food applications in mind. The majority of strains in the Genome Database are lactic acid bacteria and acetic acid bacteria, of which many are considered food-grade. We closely monitor food safety regulations and recommendations published by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the International Dairy Federation (IDF) and we update our database accordingly.

We are continuously investing to increase the number of genomes in our database. By tapping into our vast collection of environmental bacteria, we are creating a more versatile database targeting an even wider range of applications.
